#### **Lesson Outline:**
**1. Introduction (10 minutes):**
- **Greeting and Settling In:** Conduct a brief discussion about what celebrations are. Ask questions like, "What celebrations do you know?" or "What is your favourite celebration and why?"
- **Define Celebrations and Traditions:** Explain that celebrations are special times people gather to remember important events and that traditions are long-established customs and practices often associated with these celebrations.
**2. Guided Exploration (20 minutes):**
- **Flashcards Activity:** Show flashcards with images of different celebrations (e.g. Christmas, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Birthday Parties). Briefly describe each one.

- **Discussion:** Highlight some key points about each celebration, such as special foods, clothing, dances, and songs.
**3. Interactive Activity (20 minutes):**
- **Group Artwork:** Divide the class into small groups and provide each with chart paper and colouring materials. Assign each group a different celebration to illustrate with drawings of how people celebrate (fireworks, lighting lanterns, Christmas trees, etc.). **Adaptations for Diverse Learners:**
- Partner EAL (English as Additional Language) students with peers who can assist in explanations.
- Use visuals and multimedia to make the content accessible to all students.
- Provide individual support during activities as needed.
